BIO

The LCMS 24K Gold Dance Team originated in 2018 with Mrs. Kathie Jones as the Coach.  The team name was derived from an attempt to model the dance team after her favorite HBCU, Bethune Cookman University's "14K Dancers."  The 14K Dancers are featured as a part of B-CU's Band, "The Pride."

Under the direction of Mr. Wells, the B-CU Band is renowned for its dedication to excellence in all avenues of performance and musicality.  The nationally famous 14 Karat Gold dancers are made up of select young ladies who exemplify exceptional dance skills, poise, and class. The dancers are featured performers in all engagements of the Marching Wildcats and occasionally perform as a solo act. The 14K dancers can be seen frequently in BET video clips promoting Black Colleges.  This is why they are exceptional models for the exceptional young ladies at Long Cane Middle.

On a side note, the Coach of our 24K Dance Team, Mrs. K. Jones, is the daughter of two Bethune Cookman alumni.  Both of her parents majored in music, and her father was a member of the Marching Wildcats!

In addition, Mrs. Jones has successfully coached Competitive Cheer and Competitive Dance.  Both teams, under her direction, have won titles. She is currently a Language Arts Teacher at Long Cane Middle School.
